Knights and Dames from the Philadelphia Area were pleased to be able to participate in the recent Mass of Giving Thanks to God for the Gift of Life. This beautiful celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was our Archdiocesan commemoration and devotional worship in gratitude for God’s blessings and grace in the wake of the recent Supreme Court’s decision defending life. The Pro Life Union of Philadelphia organized this special Mass, held at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.
Attendees expressed their joyful gratitude to Almighty God in worshipful praise, led by Archbishop Perez as the principal celebrant; His Excellency was joined by many other bishops from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and from the Archdiocese of the Military, as well as other clergy.
Knights and Dames also assembled on Saturday, August 13th for our monthly Mass and service project. We started the morning with Saturday Salve Mass in Honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary and in commemoration of the deceased members of the Mercedarian Order. Father Matthew Phelan was the celebrant at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Philadelphia, PA.
Following Holy Mass, members and friends assembled blessing bags with provisions and treats, for distribution to local area homeless, particularly those who are served by the Missionaries of Charity in Norristown.
On Monday, August 15th, local members also gathered to attend the 22nd Annual Mass of Thanksgiving on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, held at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia. Father Robert C. Pasley, Rector, Mater Ecclesiae, was the celebrant.
