On June 14, 2025 the New York City Area attended a Solemn Mass and Te Deum at the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the First American Cardinal and the Election of the First American Pope.
Knights, Dames, and Affiliates were present in the congregation of the crowded Basilica to celebrate the occasion. His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, BGCHD, Archbishop of New York and Principal Chaplain of the American Association celebrated the liturgy along with the Very Reverend Enrique Salvo, ChM, rector of The Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral.
Cardinal Dolan stressed the importance of how 150 years later we are still defending the faith and mentioned the Order of Malta in the work that we do to witness to the faith and service to the sick and the poor.
A reception was followed at the Parish House.
