It was truly a blessing to return to Lourdes this past May! Each pilgrimage brings its own graces, and yet it’s always hard to put into words — the best I can say is simply, “it was just amazing.”
One of the most humbling and beautiful moments of the trip was distributing the handmade prayer shawls — 105 in total! The Malades and their Caregivers were deeply touched by the beauty and care put into each one. They expressed feeling blessed, honored, and grateful to be “wrapped in prayers.” Watching our Malades receive this tangible sign of love and support was an unforgettable experience.
We also carried the ministry home with us, distributing a few additional shawls to Malades and Caregivers “in spirit” upon our return.
None of this would have been possible without our dedicated community of crocheters and knitters. Your time, talent, and prayers are woven into every stitch, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The Malta Prayer Shawl Ministry has grown so much in just two years. In 2024, we shared 50 shawls with our pilgrimage Malades. In 2025, we more than doubled that — 105 shawls for Malades and Caregivers. Now, we are dreaming even bigger: for 2026, can we meet the goal of 100 shawls for Lourdes pilgrims plus create an additional supply to be given to Malades who cannot travel but would be blessed to receive one through our Dames and Knights?
With your continued help and generosity, we believe this next chapter is possible. Let us keep wrapping our Malades and Caregivers in love, comfort, and prayer.
