Samba reggae drum beats….soaring Carmen arias…and pizza! To celebrate the end of summer, the New York City Area joined the children and young adult residents of Archcare at Mother Cabrini Specialty Hospital, family members, and staff for a music and pizza party.
Our volunteers helped escort the residents in their wheelchairs to the TCC Auditorium. There, we socialized with the residents while we were all treated to live music by wonderfully divergent performers: pulsating Afro-Brazilian percussive music by the drum group Mambembe, followed by opera arias and Spanish folk songs from the wonderfully talented singer Anna.
Music therapy is an important treatment at Mother Cabrini and the residents thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. The performances were followed by a pizza party for family members and staff and then our volunteers helped escort the residents back to their floors.
