Saint John’s Soup Kitchen Health Clinic, a grant recipient from the New Jersey Area, successfully carried out a flu vaccine distribution initiative this fall. Under the leadership of Troy Simmons, KM, New Jersey Area Co-Hospitaller, the project expanded significantly this year, with increased volunteer participation and additional clinic dates.
Vaccines were administered to vulnerable individuals on two Wednesday mornings and following Mass on two Sundays at the Cathedral Basilica in Newark. Due to overwhelming demand, an additional 50 vaccines were ordered and funded through NJ Area resources. The campaign ultimately provided flu protection to 250 individuals—an inspiring testament to the generosity of the many volunteer physicians who donated their time.
Looking ahead, the NJ Area hopes to further expand this vital outreach, continuing to serve underserved populations with compassion and care.
