On Saturday, November 8, twelve members of the North East Connecticut Area gathered at St. Anne Melkite Church in Waterford, CT for a solemn Divine Liturgy, remembering the intentions of deceased members and their families. This special service also honored the personal losses of Father Dennis McCarthy, a devoted pastor and supporter of the Order, whose wife, Mrs. Lisa McCarthy, and mother, Mrs. Irene Virginia McCarthy, were called home to the Lord earlier this year.
Father McCarthy celebrated the Melkite Divine Liturgy and memorial service, accompanied by beautiful chanting from a parishioner couple and the congregation. He was assisted by Fr. Joe MacNeill, ChD. The homily, delivered by Bishop Richard Reidy of the Diocese of Norwich, offered a heartfelt reflection on the lives of our beloved departed.
Two dozen candles were lit in memory of past deceased members and spouses, including Rev. Thomas Kelly, ChC, (2024) and Dr. Robert Staab, Area Co-Chair (2022). Attendees also remembered the recent passing of Mr. Edward Mautner, Jr. (father of Jennifer Howe), Mr. Stanley Raymond (husband of Gina Raymond), and Mr. Mickey Herbert (husband of Jacqueline Herbert). Howard Quimby, KM, honored the memory of his dear wife, Verna.
Following the service, Father Dennis warmly thanked the Area for its support and hosted light refreshments. May the memories of our beloved dead be eternal.
