On Saturday, May 16, members of the Philadelphia Area gathered at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia to witness a joyful and reverent occasion: the ordination of nine new priests.

It was a deeply moving experience to see these young men step forward to make their lifelong promise of service to Archbishop Nelson Pérez and his successors. In his remarks, Archbishop Pérez reflected on the work of the Holy Spirit within the Church, noting that this was the largest class of ordinands in the Archdiocese in more than two decades.

The presence of so many newly ordained priests is a visible sign of hope and renewal for the Church. As they begin their ministry, bringing Christ to the faithful through the sacraments, we are reminded of the profound gift of the priesthood and its enduring importance in the life of the Church.

We join in prayer for these men, asking God to bless them abundantly as they embark on their vocation of service.
