Connecticut – North East Area

The North East Connecticut Area of The Order of Malta is a relatively small group yet very active in carrying out and supporting the key programs of the American Association. The members concentrate on the Order Spirituality events and other regular activities, such as: the Sunday Rosary and monthly webinars. A large group attends the annual Association Retreat at the Betania II Retreat Center, Medway MA in September and Diocese of Norwich Chrism Mass. The Area supports the Annual Pilgrimages to Lourdes and to Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, WI with strong participation in the CT Lourdes in a Day. The Area is involved in many essential local services: Catholic Charities, The New Life Prison Ministry, The Haitian Health Foundation, Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers, hospital ministries, and regional food pantries plus soup kitchens.

North East Connecticut Area holds three meetings with Mass each year to coincide with Lent, The Nativity of St. John the Baptist, and Advent, followed by lunch or dinner. Each starts with a brief period for business, time for sharing our mission work, and thought-provoking reflections usually led by Bishop Cote, Ch.C, Rev. Thom Kelly, Ch.M, or special guest speakers. Officers and members attend the annual Investiture each November in New York City and consider it a highlight of the year. We are always pleased when new members join our ranks to assist in promoting the works of Christ and of the Order for the needy and sick.
