The mission of the American Association of the Order of Malta is the promotion of the glory of God through the sanctification of its members, witness to and support of the Catholic faith, and service to the sick and the poor. The Area Grants Program provides meaningful opportunities for Areas to support local organizations and projects where members can be the hands and feet of Christ in serving the sick and the poor—living out the mission and charism of our Order in tangible ways.
We encourage every Area to take full advantage of the two grant options available to support the hands-on work your members undertake throughout the year:
This grant category supports local ministries that do not fall under a 501(c)(3). Activities such as Malta Walks and Backpack Programs continue to be excellent fits, as well as new initiatives an Area may wish to begin. These applications must be submitted by the Area Chair. When you log into SurveyMonkey Apply using the red button below, make sure you select the role of “applicant” to submit your application.
These grants may be requested by 501(c)(3) organizations in which Area members are actively involved. These applications must be completed by the organization itself. Area Chairs should share the application link and required details, listed below, with organizations pursuing a Regular Area Grant. To help ensure a smooth process for both our members and the organizations applying for a grant, we kindly ask members to clearly communicate the program details—including your Area’s general grant budget range—with your nominated organizations. This helps set appropriate expectations from the start, as grant amounts may vary.
