Eastern Connecticut Area’s Mass for Deceased Members and Family

10/25/2021

On Saturday, October 23rd, the Eastern Connecticut Area hosted a special Mass dedicated to deceased members and family. This Mass was celebrated by Fr. Tom Kelly, ChM, at Christ the King Church in Old Lyme.

The 2022 local Area Leadership served as the Crucifix and candle bearers for the Mass processions and read the Liturgy scriptures. The Order of Malta’s Universal Prayer of the Faithful was offered and members were invited to each light Remembrance candles.

Area Co-Chairs, Dr. Bob and Susan Staab attended this event, as well as the American Association’s former Executive Director and the Area’s first Area Chair, Dr. Jack Shine who remembered his wife Kathleen Shine, DM.  In total, twenty deceased were remembered by the attendees, including Mrs. Ellen and son Dr. John Aversa for Dr. John Aversa. Other widows were grateful for the Mass but physically unable to participate.

Music was provided by Mr. Bill Thomas, Parish Music Director. The recitation of the Daily Prayer of the Order preceded a small reception.  Photos taken by Ron Paine, Parish Council President.
