After being displayed in the Cathedral of Madrid and traveling to Aviles (home of Pedro Melendez de Aviles), our newly-blessed statue of St. James arrived in his namesake Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

He was welcomed by the Prior, and commended by the Canons to the Cathedral of St. Augustine at Mass on Sunday, July 10th. Next stop will be St. Augustine, in time for an appearance in the Cathedral on his Feast Day, July 25th.

Plans are under way for a proper welcome and beginning the work of developing St. Augustine Cathedral and Shrine as part of the ancient Camino de Santiago.
