Order of Malta

Spirituality in Action

Members of the Order give their time, talent, and treasure to defend the faith and provide service to the sick and the poor.

Each year the Knights and Dames of the American Association gather for the annual Mass and Investiture in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York City, where new members are inducted into the Order. The day concludes with a white-tie dinner to celebrate this success. The Annual Meeting and New Member Orientation during the Investiture Weekend provide opportunities to discuss the activities of the Association and provide the Membership with inspiration and ideas for the future.

The annual Lourdes Pilgrimage is of special significance because it gives our members the opportunity to directly serve the sick, our Malades, on a hands-on basis. It is spiritually rewarding for all. The American Association also hosts two other pilgrimages each year. Members travel to Washington D.C. to attend the Pilgrimage for Life, where they give witness to the importance of life, praying for the end of abortion. Members also travel to Champion, Wisconsin on pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, the only Marian apparition in the United States approved by the Catholic Church.
