The American Association Founded in 1927 as the first association of the Order of Malta in the Americas, the association is headquartered in New York City with over 2,000 Knights, Dames and volunteers in over 30 Areas working with the poor, sick, and incarcerated and giving witness to the Catholic faith.

Subpriory of Our Lady of Lourdes / Current Membership
Current Membership
The Subpriory of Our Lady of Lourdes is made up of members in the First and Second Classes from the American and Federal Associations. As of November 2021, the Subpriory membership consists of seven members of the First Class, 118 members of the Second Class, two Chaplains and eight candidates in preparation.
The Subpriory of Our Lady of Lourdes has two Chaplains.
The Principal Chaplain is Very Reverend Monsignor James D. Watkins, Ch.M., St. Ann’s Church, Washington D.C. and the Assistant Chaplain is Reverend Joseph F. Cavoto, OFM, Ch.M., Church of St. Francis, New York City.
